What does your business do?

Newhaven Port offers an exceptional commercial link between the UK and France. It has an established ferry service to Dieppe, France, deep-water berths with railhead access, commercial fishing stages, 500 recreational vessel berths, and a range of marine and maritime businesses.

Newhaven is sited at the mouth of the River Ouse in East Sussex. It is an important South Coast port, providing cross-channel connections to the continent for both private passengers and commercial vehicles.

What challenges or problems were you facing before using Lanoguard?

Due to the extreme and harsh conditions within our environment, we found that the acceleration of rust drastically affected the lifespan of our equipment.

Why were you looking for a solution?

We began a more detailed maintenance programme across all port assets and fleet vehicles. Following extensive research, we found Lanoguard was working for people in similar working conditions to us.

Which Lanoguard product(s) did you use?

We use the Marine Spray and Grease. We also negotiated an adaptation to some products to suit our specific wire rope grease requirements.

How did you apply it?

Using either the pressurised spray can or by hand.

How easy was the process?

No issues at all.

Any feedback on application, coverage, or durability?

The only negative is that the application guns are poor. Regardless of cleaning, they block up or simply break.

What improvements have you noticed since using Lanoguard?

The lifespan of our key asset components has been incredible. The wire ropes look brand new under every inspection, and the vehicles no longer need welding repairs or parts replaced due to corrosion.

Previously, welding was a regular MOT failure point.

How has it benefited your business?

Equipment longevity is a major benefit for us. The initial cost is significant, but it balances out in the long term.

Any unexpected advantages?

During our annual LOLER inspections on all lifting equipment, plant, and machinery, inspectors initially commented on the noticeable difference in condition once we started using Lanoguard.
